All visits are personalized to fit your pet by keeping them as close as possible on their normal routine which may include; feeding, fresh water, a leashed walk, playtime, litter box scooping, and of course lots of love, cuddles, kisses, and attention. Pet sitting also includes basic house sitting services such as; collecting the newspaper, mail, packages, indoor and outdoor potted plant watering, alternating lights, opening/closing window coverings and rolling out the trash and recycling carts on trash day. Upon your return home, you will enjoy the best part of hiring me, seeing your happy pet greeting you as you walk through the front door.
Pet Sitting Hours
Pet sitting hours are between 6 am and 8:30 pm. An after-hours fee may apply. Dogs must be visited at least twice a day per each full day you are away and cats at least once every 24-hours that you are away. Please understand that a specific visit time cannot be guaranteed. You may give me a preferred time and I will take that into consideration when I make up my daily schedule and do my best to be there within a 2-hour window – one hour before to one hour after.
It is your responsibility to leave me with plenty of pet food, litter, and other necessary supplies- even a bit extra in case you are delayed returning home. If I must make an unscheduled trip to the store to replenish these supplies, a fuel/labor surcharge of $18 per half hour will be charged to you. This charge will be in addition to any costs incurred in purchasing the supplies. Every reasonable attempt will be made to provide the same brand, flavor, etc as currently used by you, a substitute for a similar product may be necessary. Supplies will be purchased at the closest available location without regard to the product value. Payment is due immediately upon your return.
I reserve the right to refuse service or terminate service at any time before or during visits if your pet shows any form of human aggression.
If your pet is on medication this needs to be discussed prior to scheduling service. I reserve the right to refuse service based upon pet medication needs.
Pet and House Clean-up
I will properly dispose of pet waste and do the best to clean up any accidents your pet may have. I cannot be held responsible for stains created by your pet. Please provide plastic bags, disposable gloves, old towels, cleaning products, paper towels, trash bags and indicated where you would like the waste disposed of.
It is your responsibility to pet-proof any areas of your home and yard to which your pet has access. This includes thoroughly inspecting fences, gates, latches, pet doors, invisible fence/collars, closing doors, etc. I cannot be held not liable for any injuries your pet may sustain while on its property including death should pet escape. I cannot be held liable for animal control fines.
Pets that are using vaccine titers in lieu of vaccinations must supply the date of the most recent titer test from pets veterinarian. Animals who are medically exempt from the rabies vaccination need to have a letter from the exempting veterinarian.
Many cats are shy and aloof and may not want to make an appearance during your absence if this is the case, then the pet sitting visit will be cut short after cats needs of food, water and litter box scooping have been met.
Pet sitting is a pre-paid service. Payment by check or electronic funds transfer is preferred and must be received in full prior to the first scheduled pet sitting visit.
It is my policy to avoid shared pet care with friends and neighbors. An exception may be made for immediate family members. I cannot assume responsibility for your pet and property if third parties are invited to enter the premises during your absence. I will work around housekeepers, gardeners, lawn mowing service, pool/pond maintenance workers, etc., but again cannot assume responsibility should something happen to your pet or home while allowing a third party to enter your property during your absence.
I do not charge a cancellation fee at this time but, greatly appreciate your advanced notice in the event you need to cancel services.
It is not unusual for trip plans to change at the last minute. However, please understand that I carefully set aside time to serve you and other clients. If pet care needs to be extended I must be notified immediately. There is no guarantee that I will be able to continue service beyond the original agreed upon end date of service date. Any charges for unplanned services, such as additional visits, food, supplies will be due immediately upon your return.
Although all reasonable efforts will be made to provide the agreed upon services, inclement weather (e.g., snow or ice), national emergencies, acts of God, or other circumstances beyond my control may delay or prevent visits. In such a case, your emergency contact person will be notified so that other arrangements can be made, if necessary. All visits that are canceled as a result of inclement weather are credited to your account for use toward future services.
In the event your pet becomes ill or injured, I will make every possible attempt to contact you and your emergency contact. If your veterinary office is closed during your pets’ emergency, then your pet will be transported to Animal Emergency Center or Sierra Veterinary Specialist & Emergency Center. You will be responsible for all medical and financial arrangements with the veterinarian. Cats must have a pet carrier to be transported in. Ruff Ruff Ruff meow will not be responsible for medical decisions regarding your pet, or for financial payment for any veterinary medical care.
I strongly advise that you to give a house key to a nearby neighbor that will be home while you are out of town in the event that I cannot get to your pet due to storms, icy roads, fire or personal emergency. Please keep me current with your emergency contact name and phone number.
If your home is equipped with an alarm system, it is your responsibility to provide training and alarm codes in order for me to properly operate the alarm system. If during a pet sitting service period, the alarm system generates a false alarm that dispatches emergency personnel, or if the system fails to generate an alarm under legitimate circumstances, I cannot be held liable for any charges, fines, or other damages resulting from the malfunction of false alarms.
Please contact me by text or phone indicating that you have returned home. If this communication is not received from you by your expected return date/time, I will try to reach you by phone or text. If you cannot be reached to confirm that you have safely returned home, I will continue the routine care that was planned and mutually agreed upon for your pets until you do safely return home. This will be billed to you at your normal rate for service.
